4 Minute edit of Chocolat at First Bite Scratch Night Derby Theatre 22 March 2019
3 days of R&D 20/21/22 March 2019 with kind support of The Birmingham REP. Inspired by French black clown Rafael Padilla, Chocolat is a two-hander with two clowns played by emerging theatre maker Rinkoo Barpaga and actor Stephen Collins (Reasons to be Cheerful, Graeae Theatre). Master percussionist Lekan Babalola will respond to what he sees. Using urban sign language to address racism and isolation in the community, Chocolat will be a dynamic and sonically pulsating piece of physical theatre. Chocolat R&D Artistic Director Cory Campbell, presented at China Plate’s First Bite on 22nd March at Derby Theatre Birmingham.
