Deaf Explorers application to the People’s Lottery

Deaf Explorer are through to second stage of application process for The People’s Projects 2019.

Birmingham Deaf Community on 26 September 2018 wait for Deaf dancer Billy Read from Willenhall. Rob Punton, Disability poet and consultant said, “I don’t know sign language but I understood every moment of the performance. It was powerful and emotional.”
“I love this show” Sign Criminal – dance theatre by Deaf Dancers and presented to over 100 young deaf people and children at Braidwood School, Royal Derby School for Deaf and BID Youth Group. The performance is about the difficulty of communication between Deaf Children and Hearing parents, friendship, togetherness, & mutual trust. Rinkoo Barpaga Chair of Deaf Explorer says, “I am very impressed. The story is definitely so unique. Mixed of storytelling and dancing are really interesting. Also, I could see the audiences really enjoy it. This is a new generations of Deaf people who were interesting in musical” Sonny Nwachukwu, Trainee Producer at Unlimited says, “I truly believe that the dance show Sign Criminal by Billy Read and organised by Deaf Explorer appealed to young deaf people as halfway through yesterdays performance I looked around and saw the smiles, the interest and the eagerness from everyone but especially the youngins. It actually got me really emotional at one stage as i saw the inspiration.”

What is the Peoples Lottery?
The People’s Projects is an opportunity to take part in a high profile, national campaign competing for public votes, for a chance to win funding from the National Lottery funding. It is an exciting and demanding campaign, which will require time, dedication and a committed team to get your organisation the votes you need.

The Big Lottery teamed up with ITV and The National Lottery to give the public a say in awarding National Lottery funding to local projects across the UK. Your project could appear on TV, with a chance to win.
